So I haven't done one of these in hm, a long time. Thought I'd make it a little rant. So, you may not know but I am a fantabulously big fan of the book trilogy The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. If you haven't heard of it I strongly recommend you check them out!
The story is set in the near future, where a reality TV show takes place. Twelve boys and twelve girls are randomly selected and forced to appear in a live event called The Hunger Games where they must fight to the death - either kill, or be killed. The main character is Katniss Everdeen, who is a strong willed, independent 16 year old. She steps forward to take the place of her younger sister and the story is how she copes in the arena.
It's a really amazing trilogy, and I heard they were making a film for it! When I heard I was very excited, but also slightly worried. I didn't want them to ruin one of my favourite book series. I was still confident the directors and writers would do a fine job. Until I heard this.
Kristen god damn Stewart may play the role of the main heroin Katniss. ARE YOU JOKING?
I'm sorry but you can't be serious. Now I'm not one of those people who's just gonna say no way to Kristen Stewart just because she played Bella in Twilight. In fact, I think she played the character of Bella perfectly in that film. Dopey, whiney, irritating, obsessive. But she can't adapt to any other characteristic!
I cannot see her performing Katniss in the right way! Katniss is meant to be a hunter, she is a very independent young woman! That's why, without giving away all the plot, she does so well in the Hunger Games. Kristen cannot, and will not give the character her justice! I don't want Katniss to be portrayed as some annoying teenager as I can see Kristen would - she is not.
And that's all I gotta say! Looking forward to the movie coming out. If Kristen Stewart does get the part, I will not be pleased. I'll still see the film obviously, but unless she makes a drastic turn-around and suddenly learns how to act, I'll be dissapointed.
Over and out. x
