Hi there, so this is a review of A Day To Remember's newest release. 10 songs, just over half an hour long, but I tell you, I absolutely love it!
I had quite high expectations, they are one of my favourite bands and the other albums were awesome! So when I started playing the album (first song Sticks & Bricks) the beginning shocked me! But in a good way, very screamo-y at the start, and it got my attention. I did begin to worry that the whole album would be majority screamo, but when the chorus of this song began I relaxed again. There was the familiar voice that I first fell in love with. A really powerful song to start the album with but a great choice.
I'd say there's 2 quite screamo based songs on the album (2nd Sucks & You Be Tails, I'll be Sonic) which aren't my favourite of the album, but it is good that's it not all singing too! What I love about ADTR is their perfect contrast between singing and screaming. You need to have variety and that's just what they've done.
I was a little let down that there wasn't a complete acoustic song on the album - on Homesick was If It Means A Lot To You, on And Their Name Was Treason was You Had Me At Hello. But they made up for it with other amazing and powerful tracks. There isn't a song on the album that I completely hate!
My favourite song on the album must be This Is The House That Doubt Built. The beginning builds up beautifully with just guitar and then drums coming in. It's just a really good song, and the lyrics are some of the best they've ever written!
Overall I think they did a fantastic job on the record, personally because of the fact that it's A Day To Remember and I love every single track on the album, I would rate it as best album of 2010! Highly recommend to anyone, even if you don't like heavy rock, just give it a listen and you may be pleasantly surprised!
