My inspirations in life

Hello, thought I'd take the time on this boring day in January to talk about who I idolise - my inspirations. So if you do care, please take the time to read this :-)

Fear Factory
Two people have inspired me through my life, one of them is Burton C Bell. He is vocals in the heavy metal band Fear Factory, in my opinion one of the greatest heavy metal bands ever, mainly because they were one of the first metal bands to mix between screaming and melodic vocals (which is so common now in metal).

So why do I idolise him so much? To be honest I don't know! But when I first saw the band on Kerrang, I really was mesmorised. It's not just the band really, Burton's views on life are just astounding, some quotes from him literally blew me away. He's a really honest, down to earth guy and you should all definately research him if you don't know who he is!

Ascension Of The Watchers
Another reason I like him is because of his side project Ascension Of The Watchers, this is very different from his other band. AOTW made really chilled out music, in fact right now I am listening to Residual Presence by them, it's just a really great piece of music. Really relaxing, amazing voice, beautiful and creative lyrics. I often listen to his side project as it's a nice break from the heaviness of Fear Factory.

The second person who I really adore is Myles Dyer. He is a video blogger on YouTube and goes by the name Blade376. Myles' inspiration is also Burton C Bell which I thought was so amazing! He creates videos on YouTube that range from music, comedy, even some philosophy. He does charity work all year round and I really respect him for that! He's a very open person and will express himself however he feels!

He does receive quite a lot of hate on the internet and deals with it amazingly. In one video he makes an amazing quote "There is no such thing as failure; just experiences, and your reactions to them." Which I think is awesome. He is such a strong character that - if you read his videos you'll see - has clearly been through a lot. Enough of me talking about him, watch this video and you'll understand exactly what I mean.

So, these two people are massive inspirations to me and I'm sure a lot of other people. I hope they never give up what they do, because it's a pretty big part of my life :)

'What Separates Me From You' - review

Hi there, so this is a review of A Day To Remember's newest release. 10 songs, just over half an hour long, but I tell you, I absolutely love it!

I had quite high expectations, they are one of my favourite bands and the other albums were awesome! So when I started playing the album (first song Sticks & Bricks) the beginning shocked me! But in a good way, very screamo-y at the start, and it got my attention. I did begin to worry that the whole album would be majority screamo, but when the chorus of this song began I relaxed again. There was the familiar voice that I first fell in love with. A really powerful song to start the album with but a great choice.

I'd say there's 2 quite screamo based songs on the album (2nd Sucks & You Be Tails, I'll be Sonic) which aren't my favourite of the album, but it is good that's it not all singing too! What I love about ADTR is their perfect contrast between singing and screaming. You need to have variety and that's just what they've done.

I was a little let down that there wasn't a complete acoustic song on the album - on Homesick was If It Means A Lot To You, on And Their Name Was Treason was You Had Me At Hello. But they made up for it with other amazing and powerful tracks. There isn't a song on the album that I completely hate!

My favourite song on the album must be This Is The House That Doubt Built. The beginning builds up beautifully with just guitar and then drums coming in. It's just a really good song, and the lyrics are some of the best they've ever written!

Overall I think they did a fantastic job on the record, personally because of the fact that it's A Day To Remember and I love every single track on the album, I would rate it as best album of 2010! Highly recommend to anyone, even if you don't like heavy rock, just give it a listen and you may be pleasantly surprised!
